The Light Celebrates 50 Year's of Jackson 5 Music
I remember sitting in my family living room one Sunday afternoon listening to Dick Clark's "Rock, Roll and Remember."
The multi-part radio show played and discussed every number one rock and roll song starting with Bill Hailey and The Comets' classic "Rock Around The Clock" (regarded as the 1st rock song ever.)
I remember so much of that day. However, when Dick Clark got to The Jackson Five and started with I Want You Back, I soaked in every note. From the piano opening to the bass rifs, to the harmony...even though I had heard the song before...I had never listened so closely and really took in this special recording.
I WANT YOU BACK really set the bar high for a group that was the best ever at what they did.
Actually it set the bar for 2 groups.
Group one the song writing and arranging machine known as The Corporation.
Group two being Jackie, Tito, Jermain, Marlon and Michael Jackson.
On Sunday February 24th , The Light will celebrate black history month with a special panel discussion on The Jackson 5, I Want You Back and how 50 years later this song is still important to American Music...and maybe I will discuss why it's still important to me.
We do however need sponsors and donations.
We are also looking for vendors/artists/performers.
