4. The Black Panther was actually created by a white guy named JACK KIRBY!
Okay, so the fact that Jack was white is not really the cool factor here. What makes Kirby cool, is that Jack "KING" Kirby has created and designed more than 75% of the popular Marvel Universe! Jack Kirby along with Stan Lee created every one from Spider Man to The X Men. What makes Kirby even cooler? He also created DC Comic's number one villain Darkseid. Coolest , still is the fact that Jack Kirby's flair for creation, bold visuals , and mastery at sequential story telling continues to influence artists and writers more than 10 year's since his passing! Jack Kirby was not a part of comics history. KIRBY IS COMICS HISTORY! And there would be no Black Panther with out his vision!
3. He Came In The Door Beating The Fantastic Four!
Okay so, The Fantastic Four is Marvel's first super hero comic book ever. At one time they boasted Marvel's smartest hero in Reed Richards and it's strongest The Thing (although The Hulk would soon prove way stronger.) In the Black Panther's first appearance in Fantastic Four number 52. He beats the smartest man in Marvel's Universe as well as one of the strongest along with The Human Torch and Invisible Girl!

1. REGINALD HUDLIN SAVED
THE BLACK PANTHER!
The Black Panther was not a very popular character even among Black Comic Book readers...and then...
ENTER REGINAL HUDLIN.
The award winning film maker along with Marvel legacy artist John Romita Jr. presented a grand tale of The Black Panther that projected the hero to where he is now!
Hudlin and Romita harkened back to The Panther roots by creating a visually jaw dropping Kingdom of Wakanda.
Hudlin's story which featured zombies, Marvel's most unstoppable villains and the best story telling that year in comics! The Black Panther was now The King Of Comics for the first time ever. Hudlin would go on to reveal how the other Kings of The Marvel Universe (Dr. Doom, Namor, The Yellow Klaw) had to respect The Panther even when they did not like him. Hudlin addressed every other Black Character and their relationship to The Black Panther.
His stories were adorned in metaphor and wonderful dialogue so rich, when I was reading I half expected Rod Serling to step from behind my dresser with his cigarette.
Kirby created The Black Panther and we are thankful.
However, Reginal Hudlin saved the character and made him worthy of being the number one pre selling super hero flick of all time (and there is still more than 2 weeks until the film officially hits theaters across the world.)
